Volunteer

Volunteers work on projects at the Jewel Box, Pagoda Circle, Cabanne House, and Meditation Lagoon, among other places.  Typical volunteer hours are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, but volunteers may work any weekday from 8:00am – 3:00 pm. Those who enjoy gardening have an opportunity to plant a variety of flowers in a number of the park’s beautiful settings – surrounding the Jewel Box, in front of the Muny Opera, beside the sparkling lakes, and in the native prairies and savannahs.

During the late winter and early spring, Flora volunteers return to the city greenhouses to plant seeds, propagate, and prepare for the upcoming season and their annual plant sale held the Saturday before Mother’s Day.

Gardening skills are not necessary, as training classes are part of the program.  All volunteers are offered on-site training topics include propagation, soil composting, plant identification, and installation and design.
